Being busy...
As I sit looking out at the busy street I draw myself
away from life for a moment and allow myself to become
an observer of it. With the flurry of cars up and
down this street I notice how busy it all seems on
a Saturday morning, people coming and going, doing
what they do. I reflect upon life which moves at the
same pace and questions form in my mind - "Why
are we so busy?", "What drives us to be
as busy as we are?", What are we running from,
or hoping to get to?" and "Will it ever
stop?".
I take a deep breath and let it settle gently in my heart and I wait for the answers to surface.
Why are we so busy?
Lots of reasons, lots of excuses come to mind about
why we are so busy - we have lots to do, we need the
money, we love being busy, life is short, success
= long hours, we want to experience lots, life demands
it, it's an escape.
Ahhh...is being busy an escape? An escape from "what" you might ask. From the stillness. From that still, quiet place that resides deep within us aching to be heard. Escape from the darkness we haven't embraced or become aware of within our very self. Escape.
So, what drives us to be busy?
We do. Life does. We do.
Through every choice we make, every thought we think,
every action we take. We are responsible for how busy
we are.
You may argue that 'life demands this of us'. I ask
you then..."who drives your life, who makes the
decisions, who takes the actions, who thinks the thoughts?"
YOU do! Your life is a direct result of you. No-one
else to blame, just you.
Again, you might argue, but I have kids that demand
a lot from me, I have a job that demands I work long
hours. I say to you then - you chose all of this.
You chose to work the job, you chose to have the kids,
you choose to live the life you live and whilst in
the past you may have escaped the responsibility of
all of this - we have much more awareness now and
we know that we are responsible for our lives. Totally.
Undeniably. Responsible.
Okay then, if we are busy because we choose to be
busy - why would we choose this?
As mentioned earlier we have many excuses for why
we are so busy. Why we choose to be so busy. I would
like to ask "What are we running from?"
Ourselves. Yes. Our self.
Held within our physical form is the most amazing,
beautiful, incredible spirit that is us.
Our spirit holds all of the answers to all of our
questions. It holds all the love, compassion, joy,
happiness, laughter and peace ever held and it is
available to us 24/7, 365 days a year. It is present
when we feel the love of welcoming our child into
the world for the first time. It is present when we
look into a persons eyes and feel the depths of who
they are. It is present when life hands us the most
challenging of lessons and we find the blessing within
it. It is present when two souls come together in
love as one.
Yes. It is always there. It watches and waits for
the stillness. For a moment where it can present itself
to you and let you melt at its magnificence. This
is what we run from. This is within each and every
one of us and we only find it in the stillness, in
those times when we are fully breathing out.
So if this is available to us 24/7, 365 days a year
why don't we experience more of it?
Simple. Because we choose not to!
We let FEAR run our lives. We let FEAR make our decisions,
think for us, act in spite of us and keep us from
the essence of who we are - which is LOVE.
I used to believe that for LOVE to exist there must
be its opposite - which I believed was FEAR.
What if LOVE was all there is. What if LOVE contained
the FEAR. What if LOVE was who we are and anything
else is just the absence of LOVE and not the opposite.
What if we chose to LOVE the FEAR...would it cease
to exist within us and within our lives?
What would happen if instead of running all of the
time we chose to take a breath and find the stillness...if
only, just for a moment?
Imagine deliberately looking for the blessing in every
challenge presented. Imagine believing that you are
indeed the creator of your life and that everything
in your life is present because you asked it to be
there. And then once you are armed with that new awareness
imagine choosing to have more 'moments' in your life.
And then... imagine making those 'moments' be your
whole life.
Imagine taking every breath with LOVE in your heart
and walking upon the earth with LOVE as your guide.
Imagine how truly amazing life could be...truly!
Thank you for the opportunity to connect with you
- I wish you a life filled with LOVE.
This scribe was created with much love and it is sent
with many blessings.
